Caston boys finish 4th behind frontrunner Byrum

Tippecanoe Valley senior Chesnee Miller won the Valley Invite in 20:00 on Sept. 9 and helped lead the Lady Vikings to a second-place finish in the team standings.
John Glenn won the girls team title, scoring 57 points to top a six-team field. Valley had 67 points. Caston was sixth with 102 points. Argos and Culver had incomplete teams.
Miller topped a field of 39 girls runners. Hallie Klockow of Bremen was second in 20:50, and no other runner in the field finished within two minutes of Miller.
Alexa Lowe was the Caston frontrunner, taking 17th place in 24:42. Argos’ Lexi Gibson was 14th in 24:03. Culver’s Savanna Harrington was 31st in 31:06.
Bremen won the boys team title with 30 points. Caston was fourth out of seven teams with 91 points, and Valley was sixth with 126 points. Argos had an incomplete team.
Bremen’s Luke Kincaid won the individual title in 16:58. No other runner was within 25 seconds of him.
The top RTC area finisher was Caston senior Edison Byrum, who took fourth in 17:52. The Valley frontrunner was Christopher Marquez, who was 12th in 19:18. Caston junior Curtis Shaffer, who was 15th in 19:30, and Valley junior Isaac Whetstone, who was 18th in 19:37, also had top 20 finishes.
EnhkOrgil BatOrcher, the lone runner representing Argos, was 51st in 22:31.
