Caston 17, Oregon-Davis 3 (Tuesday): Logan Mollenkopf went 4 for 4 at the plate and also tossed five scoreless innings with one walk and 12 strikeouts for the visiting Comets in a rout of Oregon-Davis in their Hoosier North opener Tuesday.
Gavin Mollenkopf singled twice and drove in three runs, and London Herd doubled and had four RBIs. Parker Zimpleman singled twice and drove in two runs, giving him 11 RBIs in a two-game span.
Tucker Woolever had two hits and an RBI, and Lucius Edson also had two hits. Brodie Howard reached three times on a single and two walks.
Koiye Gibson had a hit and an RBI. Logan Mollenkopf singled twice, doubled and tripled and also had an RBI.
Caston scored twice in the top of the first and never trailed.
Leading 10-1 after six innings, they tacked on seven more runs in the top of the seventh.
O-D pitchers walked seven, hit a batter and threw seven wild pitches.
Caston improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Hoosier North.
The teams will meet again in Fulton May 7.
