Mollenkopf, Zimpleman combine for 14 Ks in Caston win over Culver

Logan drives in 5, Mollenkopf homers, Harsh, Scales add 3 RBIs each

Caston 19, Culver 1 (5 innings, April 11): Kinzie Mollenkopf and Addison Zimpleman combined on a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and freshman catcher Kylee Logan had two doubles, a single and five RBIs for the visiting Lady Comets in a win over Culver in their Hoosier North opener on April 11.

Mollenkopf also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a single, double, homer and four RBIs.

Isabel Scales added three hits and three RBIs including a triple, and Annie Harsh had a single, a double and three RBIs.

Alexa Finke had a single and two RBIs, and Bailey Harness and Myli Rude had one RBI each.

Zimpleman contributed a double, and Hinderlider had a single.

Gracie Milam doubled and scored Culver’s lone run.

Kayleigh Fritch took the loss in the circle, allowing seven hits and 11 runs (eight earned) in 3 ⅓ innings. She walked eight, hit a batter and struck out one.

Culver pitchers combined to walk 10, and Culver also committed five errors that led to 11 unearned runs for Caston.

Caston scored four runs in the top of the first and never trailed. Already leading 6-1, they added nine more in the fourth.
