Schanlaub leads 4 Comets in double figures with 18

Argos 70, Caston 61 (Tuesday): J.J. Morris and Sean Richard scored 25 points, and Luke Stults added 20 to lead Argos to a win over host Caston Tuesday.
Morris scored nine points, and Richard had eight in the third quarter as Argos extended what had been an eight-point halftime lead to 53-36 after three quarters.
The 70 points for Argos were a season high and their most since a 79-28 win over West Central in the 2022 sectional quarterfinals.
Cain Schanlaub scored 18 points to lead Caston. Caleb Stinson added 15, and Rowan Jellison and Talon Zeider had 11 each. Jellison hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Caston tried to rally.
Argos made more free throws (14) than Caston attempted (9).
Argos improved to 11-5. Caston fell to 6-11.
Argos has won the last seven meetings with Caston. Caston has not beaten Argos since February 2015.
In the JV game, Caston won 49-29 behind Grant Yadon’s 16 points and Corbin Smith’s 14. Josh Evans had eight, Carter Clingler had five, and Gavin Mollenkopf and Jan Aguilar-Mendez had three each.
Hunter Xaver led the Argos JV with 13. Mack Calhoun had four, and Corbin Rex, Obi Salary, Kyle Penn, Gabe McMillen, Dominic Burns and Gabe Bukulyu had two each.
