Dawson Perkins scored nine points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots, and Tayde Kiser also scored nine points, but the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball
team lost to NorthWood 38-33 in a Class 3A, Sectional 21 semifinal at Wawasee Friday.
Braden Shepherd had seven points, and Nolan Cumberland added six for Valley, who finished 14-10.
Valley led 21-15 at halftime, but they were held to five points in the third quarter.
Cade Brenner and Ian Raasch scored 11 points each for the No. 3 Panthers.
NorthWood (23-2) had a 24-18 rebounding advantage. Brenner and Brock Bontrager had seven rebounds each.
Valley shot 32 percent from the field and made just four of nine free throws.
Valley and NorthWood have been sectional rivals every year since 2008. Valley is 2-6 in sectional games against NorthWood during that time. Valley’s two wins came in 2013 and 2019, and Valley went on to win their only two sectionals during that time span.
NorthWood went on to beat Wawasee 40-23 on Saturday to win their third straight sectional and their fifth in the last six years.
