North Miami 2, Tippecanoe Valley 1 (Thursday): Maddie Thompson had a single and drove home Mackaylie Costello with the Valley softball team’s lone run in the sixth in a Three Rivers Conference road loss to North Miami Thursday.

Senior catcher Madi Smith spearheaded Valley’s nine-hit attack with three hits, including two doubles. Brittany Benn also had two hits, and Corinna Stiles had a double. Costello and Dalynne Bussard also had singles.

Bussard took the loss in the circle despite pitching an eight-hitter. He walked one and struck out three. Only one of the runs she allowed was earned.

North Miami scored first in the third inning and never trailed. After Valley tied it on Thompson’s RBI, North Miami earned a walk-off win with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

North Miami is now the only remaining unbeaten team in the TRC at 5-0. Valley fell to 4-1. Rochester and Maconaquah also have one loss each in the conference.

North Miami is 31-1 in conference play since the start of the 2019 season.
