Notre Dame eliminates Oakland at Evanston regional

The Oakland softball team lost to Notre Dame 16-1 in five innings in an NCAA Tournament regional elimination game at Sharon J. Drysdale Field on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., Saturday.

Oakland finished its season 26-17. It was participating in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017.

Maci Brown, a 2020 Rochester grad, started in center field and batted sixth for Oakland.

Northwestern, the No. 9 national seed, went on to defeat McNeese 10-2 on Sunday to win the regional and advance to the super regional.
