Oakland falls to Northwestern in regional opener

The Oakland University softball team lost to host Northwestern 9-2 in its regional opener at Sharon J. Drysdale Field in Evanston, Ill., Friday.

Maci Brown batted sixth and played center field for Oakland. Brown is a 2020 Rochester grad.

Oakland will play Notre Dame in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Saturday. The winner will play again at approximately 6 p.m. Eastern.

McNeese defeated Notre Dame 11-1 in the other regional game Friday.

Oakland is playing in its first NCAA Tournament since 2015.
