Ortiz scores 22, helps hot-starting Culver beat Tri-Township

Culver 55, Tri-Township 25 (Saturday): Emiliano Ortiz scored a game-high 22 points, and the Culver defense held Tri-Township to eight first-half points in a home rout at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Saturday.

Shane Shuman added nine points, Joey Pizur added seven, David Hite had five, Ethan Keller had four, Jonas McCuen had three, Ethan Binion had three, and Oliver Morgan had two for the Cavaliers (10-10).

Isaiah Bartels led Tri-Township with 13 points.

Culver led 21-3 after one quarter and extended the lead to 33-8 at halftime.

Culver beat Tri-Township, the school formerly known as LaCrosse, for the third straight year.
