Parker starts with eagle, but misses regional by stroke

Valley shoots 355; Culver has incomplete team

The Tippecanoe Valley boys golf team shot a 355 and finished sixth out of 10 complete teams at the Warsaw sectional at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Columbia City Monday. Valley’s season was highlighted by winning the Indiana Northern State Conference title with a 346 on May 23 and placing all five golfers on either the all-conference team or the honorable mention all-conference team.

The Tippecanoe Valley boys golf team shot a 355 and finished sixth out of 10 complete teams at the Warsaw sectional at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Columbia City Monday.

Wes Parker eagled the par-5 first hole and finished with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole and led Valley with an 83. Ian Young added an 86, Daniel Scacco had a 91, Nash Bouse had a 95, and Will Parker had a 107.

Scacco birdied the par-3 seventh hole and the par-4 16th hole.

Meanwhile, Culver had an incomplete team. Dillon Tanner led with a 125, and Jacob Ringer had a 127.

Warsaw won the sectional with a 305. Plymouth (309) and Culver Academy (321) also advanced to the regional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw on Thursday. The same three teams advanced in the same order last year.

Wes Parker missed going to the regional as an individual by one stroke. Wawasee’s Preston Scherer (78), Huntington North’s James Wiley (81) and Wawasee’s Hudson Cripe (82) advanced as individuals on non-advancing teams.

Cripe won a three-playoff from Huntington North’s Griffin Husband and Benjamin Roth for the final individual spot.

Culver Academy’s Will Miller was the medalist with a 72. He beat Plymouth’s Dan Nguyen in a playoff for the title.
