Parker takes medalist with 76, helps Valley edge Rochester for Valley Invite title

Wes Parker shot a 76 to claim medalist honors and lead Tippecanoe Valley to the title at the seven-team Tippecanoe Valley Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek Friday.

Valley shot a 334 and beat runner-up Rochester by two strokes. The Valley (Gold) team, which consisted of JV players, shot a 390 and took fifth. Winamac shot a 415 and finished seventh.

In addition to Parker, other Valley scores included Ethan Young’s 81, Nash Bouse’s 87, Thad Shambaugh’s 90 and Kyzer Hughes’ 97. Young’s score was third among the 39 individuals, and Bouse’s score tied for seventh.

Parker had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12, both of which are par-5s. He played the final 12 holes in 2-under-par. Young had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6 and 7.

On the Gold team, Evan Bolinger had an 88, Noah Mellott had a 97, Kolton Seaney had a 102, Ian Young had a 103, and Dane Scacco had a 104.

Rochester’s low scorer was junior Ashton Musselman, who shot a 78 and was second among individuals. Isaac Heishman added an 82, Davis Renie had an 87, Brady Morgan had an 89, and Brevin Nicholson had a 105. Heishman was fourth among individuals, and Renie tied for seventh.

Musselman birdied the par-4 6th hole. Heishman eagled No. 12, and he birdied Nos. 1, 4, 11 and 14. Reniehad birdies on Nos. 6, 10 and 12. Morgan birdied the eighth hole.

Logan Fredel led Winamac with a 96. Brendan Hines carded a 100, Will Biros had a 102, Parker Zeider had a 117, and Louis Rugg had a 131.
