Paulik goes 2 for 2, but Bremen routs Zebras

Bremen 12, Rochester 1 (5 innings, Thursday): Carson Paulik went 2 for 2, but the host Class 2A, No. 6 Rochester baseball team lost to Bremen at Bob Copeland Field Thursday.
Brady Coleman and Tanner Reinartz each added a hit, and Drew Bowers had a walk. Parker Casper scored the lone run on Paulik’s RBI single in the first inning.
Brant Beck took the loss on the mound. In 3 ⅔ innings, he allowed six hits and eight runs (six earned) while walking three and striking out three. Conner Dunfee relieved and allowed five hits and four runs in 1 ⅔ innings. He walked a batter and hit a batter and had no strikeouts.
J.J. Cencelewski pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts for Bremen. Preston Williams had three hits and three RBIs, and No. 9 hitter Aidan Alvarado went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Jack Wildauer doubled and drove in two runs, and Zack Rouch had two singles and an RBI.
Bremen committed no errors while Rochester had three.
Rochester led 1-0 after two innings before Bremen scored four runs in the third. Silas Laidig’s sacrifice fly put Bremen ahead for good, and a two-out error that allowed two-runs to score gave Bremen a 4-1 lead.
Bremen improved to 15-9. Rochester dropped to 18-6.
This was the teams’ first meeting since Rochester beat Bremen 11-2 in last year’s sectional semifinals at Wabash.
