Pioneer boys track update: Bowditch, Tolosa eliminated at regional

Boys track

Dane Bowditch finished 15th in the 800 meters, and Mikaden Tolosa took 14th in the discus at the Lafayette Jeff regional Thursday, ending the Pioneer boys track team’s season.

Bowditch, a junior, was timed in 2:05.09. Banner Barnes of Noblesville won in 1:52.32.

Tolosa, a junior, threw the discus 124-5. R.J. Clem of Logansport prevailed with a throw of 167-9.

Pioneer did not score. Fishers won with 74 points. Westfield was second with 69.

Bowditch, Tolosa advance to regional as Panthers finish 11th

Pioneer’s Dane Bowditch advanced to the regional in the 800 meters, and Mikaden Tolosa advanced in the discus from the Kokomo boys track sectional May 21.

Pioneer scored 19 points and finished in 11th place. Kokomo won with 133.5 points.

The top three in each event earned automatic berths at the Lafayette Jeff regional May 28.

Bowditch took third in the 800 in 2:07.67, and Tolosa was third in the discus with a throw of 139-3, a new personal best.

Tolosa also scored in the shot put by placing fifth with a throw of 44-1.

Pioneer’s other points came in the 4 x 800 relay, which was sixth in 9:20.41. The team consisted of Bryce Akers Boonstra, Hunter Bartling, Dane Bowditch and Jason Harding.
