Pioneer girls, boys track takes 2nd in 3-way meet

The Pioneer girls and boys track teams each finished second to Kankakee Valley in a three-way meet at Twin Lakes Tuesday.

Final scores were not provided to RTC.

In the girls meet, Rachel Harding won the 100 meters in 12.52 seconds, a new personal best, and also took second in the high jump and third in the 200 meters. She also ran a leg on the 4 x 100 relay that took second.

Paula Collado Fernandez won the 400 in 1:01, a new personal best, and was second in the 800. She also ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 400 relay team and the 4 x 800 relay team that finished third.

Aspen Moolenaar and Hayley Malchow finished 1-2 in the pole vault. Blair Grigsby won the 300 hurdles.

Grigsby, Michelle Harding and Chloe Chan each ran a leg on the 4 x 400 relay.

In the boys meet, Leighton Dodt won the 1,600 in 4:44 and the 3,200. He also ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 800 relay.

Carson Meyer was second in the 1,600 in 4:46 and the 3,200 behind Dodt. Jackson Baker won the 800 and was fourth in the 400.

Jack Cooper joined Baker, Dodt and Meyer on the 4 x 800 relay.

The Pioneer coaching staff reported 38 personal records, and all six relays also set season bests.

Pioneer travels to the Caston Invitational Saturday.
