Pioneer senior Aspen Moolenaar’s high school track career ended at the Lafayette Jeff regional Tuesday after she tied for 10th in the pole vault and 14th in the 300 hurdles.

Meanwhile, sophomore Emilee Juby had her season end in the discus.

Moolenaar cleared 10-3 in the pole vault, which was a nine-inch improvement from her sectional performance. She was also nearly two seconds faster in the 300 hurdles, running a 48.88.

Juby, the Hoosier North champion in the discus, was second at the sectional with a throw of 107-8 and 12th in the regional with a throw of 108-10.

Pioneer did not score a team point at the regional. Carmel won with 116 points.

Pioneer places sixth at Kokomo sectional

The Pioneer girls track team scored 41 points at the Kokomo sectional May 19 and placed sixth out of 11 teams.

Western won with 139 points. Three Rivers Conference champion Northwestern was second with 135.5.

Moolenaar, a Franklin College signee, single-handedly accounted for 17 points by finishing second in the pole vault, fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 100 hurdles.

She advanced in the pole vault automatically by finishing in the top three, and she advanced in the 300 hurdles on a callback.

Juby finished second in the discus with a throw of 107-8. Western’s Ellyse Walden had the winning throw of 140-6.

Other Pioneer scorers in individual events included junior Brooklynn Dillman, who was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 32-5; junior Noa Bissacco, who was fifth in the high jump; freshman Bella Scales, who was seventh in the high jump; Avery Haselby, who was seventh in the pole vault; and Ellie Hines, who was eighth in the 800.

Also, Pioneer’s 4 x 400 relay team consisting of Paytyn Dillman, Jenna Franklin, Hines and Camilla Sandoval-Galo took seventh in 5:15.47 and scored two points by finishing seventh.
