Gotshall’s golf season ends at regional

Volleyball
Brooke out for volleyball season: Pioneer sophomore Ashlynn Brooke is out for the remainder of volleyball season due to a knee injury, RTC has learned.
Pioneer rated No. 5 in 1A: The Pioneer volleyball team is at No. 5 in this week’s IndianaPrepVolleyball.com Class 1A rankings. Sectional rival Northfield is No. 3.
Pioneer has won 14 consecutive sectional titles.
The IHSAA draw is at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Pioneer def. Winamac, 25-12, 25-19, 25-11 (Thursday): Pioneer improved to 18-3 overall and 6-0 in the Hoosier North with a home win over Winamac Thursday.
Pioneer def. North Judson, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 22-25, 18-16 (Sept. 21): Pioneer topped host North Judson in a five-set thriller Sept. 21. Pioneer improved to 5-0 in the TRC with the win.
Pioneer def. Culver, 25-16, 25-9, 25-13 (Sept. 15): Pioneer rolled to a Hoosier North home win over Culver Sept. 15.
Pioneer goes 3-1 at Harrison Invite (Sept. 12): The Pioneer volleyball team went 3-1 at the Harrison Invitational in West Lafayette and finished in second place out of 12 teams.
Pioneer beat Clinton Prairie 25-19, 25-22; beat Fort Wayne South Side 25-13, 25-19; beat Covington 25-21, 25-20; and lost to Heritage Christian 25-14, 25-20 in the championship match.
Pioneer def. North White, 25-17, 25-15, 25-11 (Sept. 10): The Lady Panthers recorded a nonconference win over North White Sept. 10.
Girls golf
Gotshall’s season ends at regional: Pioneer’s Hailey Gotshall shot an 89 at the Lafayette Jeff regional at Battle Ground Golf Club Saturday, ending her season.
Tipton’s Lucy Quigley (77), Michigan City’s Taylor Skibinski (78), Michigan City’s Lia Thomas (81), Lafayette Jeff’s Halie Wolf (81) and John Glenn’s Megan Kobelt (82) had the top five scores on non-advancing teams and advanced to state.
Quigley was also the medalist.
Culver Academy won the regional with a 341. Western (342) and Crown Point (347) also advanced to state.
Gotshall shoots 104 at Twin Lakes sectional, advances to regional: Pioneer’s Hailey Gotshall shot a 104 at the Twin Lakes sectional at Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello Sept. 21 and advanced to the regional as an individual by having one of the three lowest scores among players on non-advancing teams.
Winamac’s Keira Bucinski (94) and Tri-County’s Chloe Brettnacher (102) also advanced. Rensselaer’s Camille Geleott also shot a 104 but lost a sudden death playoff to Gotshall.
Kankakee Valley won the sectional with a 390, and North Newton (406) and Twin Lakes (422) also advanced.
North Newton’s Mackendzie Dresbaugh was the medalist with an 81.
Pioneer was fifth with a 450. Other Pioneer scores included Kynzie Bullock’s 106, Katelyn Duncan’s 118 and Emilie Schmaltz’s 122.
