While Pioneer stays in Class 2A for softball, they are no longer in a sectional with top opponents like Boone Grove, Hebron and North Newton.
Rather, Pioneer is now in Class 2A, Sectional 37, a six-team grouping that includes Hoosier North rivals North Judson and Winamac as well as Three Rivers Conference teams Rochester and Wabash. The sixth team is Lewis Cass, who went 14-10 last year.
The Lady Kings and Lady Panthers (23-5) are the only teams in the sectional who had winning records last year.
Due to increased enrollment, Pioneer finds itself in Class 2A, and they will share Sectional 36 with one other Hoosier North team – LaVille. The other four teams are Bremen, Rochester, Manchester and Wabash.
Wabash and Rochester were the top two teams in the TRC last year.
Pioneer went 10-14 last year.
Wabash is a traditional sectional host.
