Pioneer’s Bowditch, Winamac’s Fredel finish in top 10 at Culver Academy Invite

Winamac’s Wegner takes 17th in girls race

The Winamac boys cross-country team scored 366 points and finished 13th out of 28 teams in the closed race at the Culver Academy Invitational Saturday.

Meanwhile, Caston was 17th with 429 points, and Pioneer was 19th with 484 points.

DeMotte Christian won the title with 59 points.

Pioneer’s Dane Bowditch was the top area finisher, placing seventh in the field of 232 runners in 17:30.

Winamac’s Logan Fredel was ninth in 17:37.

Kane Finke was the Caston frontrunner, placing 53rd in 19:12.

Emry Stackhouse, a freshman and the lone Argos runner, was 110th in 20:24.

Clinton Central senior Spencer Dunn won the race in 16:59.

In the girls closed race, Winamac was 12th with 282 points, Caston was 15th with 329, and Pioneer was 19th with 476.

Fairfield won the team title with 41 points.

Winamac’s Avery Wegner, who took 17th in 21:43, was the top area finisher. The fastest Lady Comet was Hannah Rogers, who placed 43rd in 23:20. Avery Haselby, who was 106th in 25:23, set the pace for Pioneer.

Senior Lexi Gibson, the lone runner representing Argos, took 61st in 23:53. Junior Savanna Harrington, the lone runner representing Culver, was 172nd in 30:10.

Lewis Cass’ Aftin Griffin topped the field of 184 runners in 19:06.
