Pioneer sports briefs: Cripe homers twice in Pioneer win over Logansport

Baseball follows loss to Tri-County with win over Clinton Central

Pioneer 11, Logansport 1 (5 innings, Thursday): Hailey Cripe went 3 for 3 with two homers, a single and three RBIs, and she also struck out 12 in a complete-game two-hitter for Pioneer in a home win over Logansport Thursday.

Casey Webb and Crystabelle Blickenstaff also homered for Pioneer. Webb had three RBIs, and Mackenzie Robinson had three hits and two RBIs.

Kylie Farris had two hits and an RBI, and Shaylee Goings also had two hits.

Already leading 7-1 going into the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Panthers (2-0) scored four runs to end the game.

Pioneer 12, Faith Christian 6 (Tuesday): Hailey Cripe tripled, homered and drove in five runs, and Adeline Cripe had two hits and two RBIs for the reigning Class 2A state champion Lady Panthers in a road win over Faith Christian Tuesday.

Kylie Farris also had two hits and an RBI. Kylie Attinger had a hit and an RBI, and Mackenzie Robinson also had an RBI.

Hailey Cripe pitched a complete game. She allowed five hits and three earned runs while walking four and striking out 11.

The game was tied 4-4 after five innings. Pioneer scored four runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead for good.

Tri-County 14, Pioneer 1 (5 innings, Tuesday): Oscar Solano had Pioneer’s lone hit in a road loss to Tri-County at Remington Community Park Tuesday.

Caden Couch had the only RBI in the first inning. Owen Miller scored the run. Eric Zarse had two hits and four RBIs.

Xavier Cantrell walked three and struck out 12 in five innings for the win for the Cavaliers. Tri-County scored 11 runs in the second inning.

Freshman Noah Miller took the loss for Pioneer. He allowed four hits and seven runs (six earned) in 1 ⅓ innings. He walked four and struck out one.

Miller and relievers Solano and Couch combined to walk 10.

Triton Early Bird Invitational canceled: The Triton Early Bird Invitational, which was scheduled for Woodbury Golf Course in Plymouth on Saturday, has been canceled.

Pioneer was among the teams scheduled to compete.
