Girls tennis
Rochester 3, Southwood 2 (Monday): Ella McCarter, Taylor Howard and Rylee Clevenger each won at singles to lead the Rochester girls tennis team to a Three Rivers Conference home win over Southwood at the RHS courts Monday.
McCarter knocked off Courtney Finney 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, Taylor Howard topped Lucy Vandermark 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2, and Clevenger blanked Colleen Boardman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
In doubles play, Sophie McCall and Chloe Nichols lost to Dakota Schipper and Lydia Topliff 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8) at No. 1, and Vivian Miller and Abriella St. Martin dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Guilia Colombini and Vada Stouffer at No. 2.
Southwood won the JV match 1-0.
Rochester played without coach Adrian Paulik, who is on maternity leave. Paulik gave birth to a daughter on Thursday named Ripley Grace.
Assistant coach Markis Smiley, Ripley’s father, coached the team in her place.
