Rans, Reyes go 1-2, lead Pioneer to conference boys golf title

Micah Rans and Ivan Reyes finished 1-2 and led Pioneer to the Hoosier North boys golf title at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek in Rochester Saturday.

Pioneer shot a 352 to top a field of six complete teams.

Winamac, which returned three players from last year’s conference champions, was second with a 365. Among other area schools, Caston was fifth with a 386, and Culver had an incomplete team.

Rans was the conference medalist with an 81. Reyes, the 2024 conference medalist, took second with an 84 and also made the all-conference team.

Other Pioneer scores included Dane Bowditch’s 92, Brady Price’s 95 and Tayt Smith’s 104. Bowditch and Price both earned honorable mention status.

Winamac’s all-conference players included Brendan Hines, who had an 85, and Will Biros, who shot a 90. Other Warrior scores included Talen Garner’s 92, Logan Fredel’s 98 and Parker Zeider’s 113.

Caston’s low scorer was Owen Chapman, who made the all-conference team with a 90. Max Sommers claimed honorable mention with a 92, Luke Graham had a 99, Jace Rentschler had a 105, and Gage Thomas had a 107.

Dillon Tanner, the lone player representing Culver, shot a 132.
