Rochester 6, Wabash 4 (April 30): Tanner Reinartz had an RBI single as part of a five-run third inning, and he also struck out 10 over five innings for the win as Rochester earned a Three Rivers Conference home win over Wabash on April 30.

Gavin Young pitched two hitless innings for the save. He hit Haiden McWhirt with a pitch and walked Derek Reed in the seventh but later struck out Carter Booth with the potential tying run in scoring position to end the game.

Reinartz had the Zebras’ lone hit off Wabash pitchers Keaton Fields and Trevor Daughtry. But Fields walked five batters and hit a batter in Rochester’s five-run third inning as they took a 5-2 lead.

Wabash also committed two errors in the inning and four for the game. Only two of Rochester’s six runs were earned against Fields and Daughtry.

The inning included Brady Coleman’s RBI hit by pitch, a run-scoring error on Carson Paulik’s grounder, Reinartz’s RBI single, Colton Ferverda’s RBI walk and a run-scoring error on Brady Beck’s grounder.

Coleman later scored on a passed ball in the fourth.

Reinartz walked three and hit four batters but allowed only two hits.

The teams combined for eight errors.

Rochester improved to 2-2 in the TRC. They could play Wabash again in the Class 2A, Sectional 36 final at Wabash on May 27.
