Pioneer finishes 13th, Winamac takes 16th

The Rochester boys golf team began the season by shooting a 354 and finishing seventh out of 16 teams at the Rochester Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek Saturday.
Davis Renie led Rochester with an 80, Isaac Heishman had an 86, Ashton Musselman had an 87, Brady Morgan had a 101, and Brevin Nicholson had a 107.
Renie, Heishman and Musselman are holdovers from 2024 while Morgan and Nicholson are newcomers to the varsity.
Among other area schools, Pioneer shot a 373 and finished 13th. Ivan Reyes shot an 82, Micah Rans had an 85, Brady Price had a 97, Tayt Smith carded a 109, and Cole Franklin had a 113.
Winamac shot a 447 and finished 16th. Brendan Hines had a 91, Logan Fredel had a 105, Will Biros had a 124, Rylan Craig had a 127, and Louis Rugg carded a 138.
Logansport won the tournament with a 328, edging runner-up Huntington North by one stroke.
Garrett’s Carter Demske was the medalist with a 75.
