Pioneer finishes 6th, Winamac 7th, Caston 16th

Boys golf
The Rochester boys golf team shot a 330 and finished third out of 16 teams at the Logansport Invitational at Dykeman Park Golf Course Saturday.
Among other area teams, Pioneer shot a 367 and finished sixth, Winamac shot a 373 and finished seventh, and Caston shot a 424 and placed 16th.
All four schools will return to Dykeman Park for the sectional on May 31.
Rochester’s Noah Riffle shot a 77 to finish second among all individuals, and teammate J.R. McLochlin shot a 79 and tied for fourth.
Other Rochester scores included Davis Renie’s 85, Isaac Heishman’s 89, and Ashton Musselman’s 94.
Pioneer’s Micah Rans shot an 83, Ivan Reyes shot an 89, Cole Franklin had a 97, Brady Price had a 98, and Tayt Smith had a 110.
Brendan Hines and Noah Garner each led Winamac with an 89. Talen Garner had a 97, Logan Fredel had a 98, and Cooper Fulmer had a 111.
Caston’s low scorer was Maxwell Sommers with a 94. Lucas Graham had a 99, Gage Thomas had a 110, Charles Warpenpurg had a 121, and Jace Rentschler had a 127.
Lewis Cass won with a 328. Logansport also shot a 330 and beat Rochester on the fifth player’s score for second place on the tiebreaker. The top four teams were separated by three strokes.
Lewis Cass’ Rylan Stoller shot a 76 to beat Riffle by one stroke for medalist honors.
