Rochester accepting applications for athletic director

Rochester Community Schools is accepting applications for the athletic director position.

The job opening was posted on the school’s website Thursday.

The Rochester School Board held an executive session followed by a regular meeting Thursday morning. “Consideration of Request for Non-Renewal of Employee Contract” was the only item listed on the agenda for the regular meeting, but the identity of that employee was not listed.

The board can privately discuss the job performance of an employee behind closed doors at an executive session. It’s unclear why the board had another regular meeting Thursday after having a regular meeting Monday.

Kevin Renie had been the Rochester athletic director.

Rochester won conference titles in girls golf and boys wrestling in 2023-24. They also won sectional titles in boys wrestling, softball and baseball. The baseball team went on to win the first regional title in school history before falling in the semistate final to Illiana Christian.

Rochester also advanced golfers Olivia Bailey and Ava Thomas and swimmer Jake Seuferer to the state finals. Bailey became Rochester’s first ever regional champion golfer.
