Rochester athletes honored at TRC awards

Five Rochester student-athletes received the Scholar Athlete Award, two received the Mental Attitude Award and five received the Distinguished Academic Award at the Honeywell Center in Wabash last week.

Mia Howdeshell, Reece Johnson and Ella McCarter received both the Scholar Athlete and Distinguished Academic Awards.

The Scholar Athlete Award goes to a senior who is in the top five percent of their class after seven semesters and who have an SAT score of 1150 or higher or an ACT score of 23 or higher.

Lillee Lett and Owen Prater also received this award.

The Distinguished Academic Award goes to any athlete that made the Academic All-Conference team at least five of the six sports seasons during their junior and senior years.

Rochester had five Distinguished Academic Award winners; the other nine schools in the TRC had nine recipients of this award combined. In addition to Howdeshell, Johnson and McCarter, other recipients from Rochester included Audrey Bolinger and Rylee Clevenger.

Ava Thomas and Davis Renie were the Mental Attitude Award winners. The conference presents a Mental Attitude Award to one male and one female student-athlete from each member school.
