Rochester beats Winamac in 3 for 5th win of season

The Rochester volleyball team swept host and sectional rival Winamac 25-22, 25-11, 25-12 Thursday.

Rochester won their second straight match over a sectional opponent – they won at Wabash in three sets on Tuesday – and improved to 5-20 on the season.

Winamac fell to 2-23. The Lady Warriors beat Argos Tuesday to snap a 22-match losing streak. Winamac’s other win came in a best-of-three match against Tri-Township in their season-opening home tournament on Aug. 12.

The sectional draw is 7 p.m. Sunday. Both teams are in Class 2A, Sectional 36 at Pioneer.

This was the teams’ first meeting since Rochester swept Winamac in last year’s sectional semifinals.
