Holloway, L. Horn, Beck, Gard go 3-0 on day

The Rochester boys wrestling team went 1-2 and finished fourth out of 12 teams at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 1A Team State Duals at Franklin Community High School Saturday.
Rochester, who received a bye into the quarterfinals, began their day with a 48-30 win over Northfield. They then lost to North Miami 41-28 in the semifinals and to Southmont 39-35 in the third-place match.
Braxton Hester (106), Tanner Horn (113), Jackson Robbins (120), Grant Holloway (126), Layne Horn (132), Braddock Behling (150) and Brant Beck (165) won by fall against Northfield. Derek Wortley (190) and Declan Gard (HWT) won by decision.
In the loss to North Miami, Tanner Horn, Layne Horn (138) and Beck won by fall, and Holloway (132) won by technical fall. Kale Shotts (175) and Gard won by decision.
Shotts, Wortley and Gard won by fall against Southmont. Beck won by technical fall. Robbins, Holloway (126) and Layne Horn (132) won by major decision.
Horn defeated Southmont’s Gavin Mason, who was ranked No. 8, according to IndianaMat.com. Layne Horn is ranked No. 4.
North Miami went on to beat Adams Central 44-34 to win their second straight team title.
Rochester 50, Tippecanoe Valley 30 (Jan. 7)
Layne Horn (132) and Brant Beck (165) won by fall, and Jackson Robbins (120), Grant Holloway (126), Kale Shotts (175) and Declan Gard (HWT) won by technical fall for Rochester in a road dual win over Valley Jan. 7.
Braxton Hester (106), Tanner Horn (113) and Clarence Garrett (157) won by forfeit.
Chase Fincher (138), Kodiak Hillen (144), Hunter Clyde (190) and Masen Fincher (215) won by fall for Valley. Thad Shambaugh (150) won by forfeit.
