Rochester falls to Trinity Greenlawn in sectional, finishes 0-14

Trinity Greenlawn 9, Rochester 0 (Tuesday): Trinity Greenlawn scored nine goals in the first half and cruised to a win over Rochester in a Class 1A, Sectional 35 quarterfinal at Argos Tuesday.

Audrey Lee and Natalie Gabrielse each had a hat trick, and Tess Curran, Maggie Karban and Charis Gabrielse each added a goal for the No. 7 Lady Titans.

The game went to a running clock with 18:57 left in the first half on a goal from Lee, a freshman.

The game ended with 20:00 per the IHSAA Mercy Rule.

Rochester finished 0-14. They were held to four goals on the season.

The game was the final prep soccer game for seniors Trinity Collins, Brooke Nelson and Lilly Watson. Trinity Greenlawn will play No. 17 Argos in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Thursday. Argos beat Culver 6-2 in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal.

Argos is the five-time defending sectional champion, and they eliminated Trinity Greenlawn in last year’s sectional quarterfinals.

However, Trinity Greenlawn beat Argos 7-1 on Aug. 15 in their regular season meeting.
