Rochester girls finish 4th, boys 5th at TRC meet

Miller takes 5th in girls 50 free; Wachtmann finishes 2nd in boys 500 free

The Rochester girls swimming team scored 131 points and finished fourth out of six teams at the Three Rivers Conference meet at Maconaquah Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Rochester boys scored 120 points and finished fifth.

In the girls meet, the highest finishing Rochester swimmer in an individual event was senior Aubrey Miller, who took fifth in the 50 freestyle in 28.93 seconds. Miller was also seventh in the 100 freestyle. Riplee Snyder was sixth in the 200 freestyle in 2:26.02.

Rochester also finished fifth in all three relays.

The Rochester boy who got the highest place on the podium was freshman Tyson Wachtmann, who was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:25.64. Wabash junior Luke Blossom won the title in 5:20.10, and he and Wachtmann will face off again at the Warsaw sectional, which begins Feb. 19.

Wachtmann also took sixth in the 200 freestyle. Brevin Nochoson was fifth in the 100 backstroke and seventh in the 200 individual medley.

Maconaquah won the girls team title with 339 points. Northwestern won the boys team title with 382.

Peru, Whitko, Northfield and Southwood do not have swim teams.
