Rochester girls finish 6th, boys 5th in New Haven Classic Gold races

Valley boys take 29th in Purple race

Cross-country

The Rochester girls cross-country team scored 166 points and finished in sixth place out of 15 complete teams in the Gold race at the New Haven Classic at Huntington University Saturday.

Katelyn Conliff, a freshman, led Rochester by finishing 10th in a field of 135 runners in 21:23. Other Rochester runners included Adison Hayes, who was 21st in 22:19; Daniela Ochoa, who was 46th in 23:55; Vivian Miller, who was 51st in 24:16; Jane Gottschalk, who was 78th in 26:34; Addisyn Zimmerman, who was 87th in 27:14; Chloie Tyler, who was 95th in 27:45; Serenity Howard, who was 110th in 29:27; Jocelynn Shafer, who was 115th in 30:08; and Addyson Hake, who was 133rd in 38:09.

Meanwhile, Tippecanoe Valley had an incomplete team in the Purple race. Katie Sterk was Valley’s lone runner and finished 182nd out of 228 runners in 26:49.

Churubusco won the Gold girls race with 88 points. Southwood’s Ava Stauffer won the individual title in 20:11.

Homestead won the Purple girls race with 27 points. Homestead’s Clare Lebrija was the individual champion in 18:25.

In the Gold boys race, Rochester scored 174 points and finished fifth in a field of 20 teams.

Freshman frontrunner Warner DuBois ran a 17:59 and finished in 13th place in a field of 184 runners. 

Other Rochester runners included Tyson Wachtmann, who was 28th in 18:45; Leandro Javier, who was 31st in 18:47; Caden Biernacki, who was 53rd in 19:45; Lucas Scorsone, who was 57th in 19:51; Parker Smith, who was 60th in 19:56; and Tommy Schwenk, who was 150th in 24:26.

Meanwhile, Valley scored 809 points and finished in 29th place out of 29 teams in the Purple boys race.

Aaron Babbitt, a senior, led Valley by finishing in 150th place out of 347 runners in 19:58. Andrew Wise was 179th in 20:40, Adric Shock was 259th in 21:43, Everest Lipsey was 293rd in 22:50, Wyatt Whetstone was 317th in 24:06, and Darryn Miller was 392nd in 25:23.

Monroe Central won the Gold boys team title with 123 points. Hamilton’s Robert Schiek was the individual champion in 17:17.

Fort Wayne Dwenger won the Purple boys title with 71 points. Lakewood Park’s Zander Ritenour was the individual champion in 15:49.
