Rochester girls tennis finishes 2nd at John Glenn Invite

The Rochester girls tennis team went 2-1 on the day and finished in second place at the John Glenn Invitational Saturday. They are now 3-1 on the season.
Rochester defeated John Glenn 3-2, lost to Knox 3-2 and then beat LaVille 4-1. Olivia Bailey and Ellie Straeter both went 3-0 on the day at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Bailey won at No. 1 singles, Straeter won at No. 2 singles, and J.J. Graber and Abriella St. Martin won their first match at No. 1 doubles in three sets as the Lady Zs beat host John Glenn 3-2 in their season opener April 7.
Bailey, who did not play last year, and Straeter won in straight sets. Both had previous varsity experience in doubles but were making their singles debuts. Bailey is the team’s only senior.
Graber, a transfer from Goshen, is a newcomer to the tennis team and is St. Martin’s new partner; both are juniors.
Matches were one 10-game pro set.
