L. Horn, Beck win 4th individual titles

The Rochester boys wrestling team won the Plymouth sectional Saturday with 252.5 points and advanced 11 individuals to next week’s regional.
Warsaw was second with 186.5 points, and Bremen was third with 186.
Rochester had more individual sectional champions (8) than the other nine schools had combined (6).
The sectional champions included Braxton Hester (106), Tanner Horn (113), Jackson Robbins (120), Grant Holloway (126), Layne Horn (132), Brant Beck (165), Kale Shotts (175) and Declan Gard (HWT).
Hester, Tanner Horn, Robbins, Holloway and Shotts won their first career sectional titles. Gard won his third. Layne Horn and Beck won their fourth.
Second-place finishers included Derek Wortley (190) and Mason Hisey (215). Clarence Garrett (157) finished fourth.
Rochester has won 15 team sectional titles in their history, including five in the last six years. This is Tristan Wilson’s first sectional title as coach.
Among other area schools, Winamac scored 158 points and finished fourth, Culver scored 61.5 points and placed eighth, and Caston scored 32 points and finished 10th.
Winamac had seven regional qualifiers, headlined by 215-pound champion Tearson Wolford. Wolford pinned Hisey in 37 seconds in the championship match and needed only 2:53 of mat time on the day to record three falls. Other Warrior regional qualifiers included Hayden Taylor (138), Asher Jones (150) and Rian Shell (157), all of whom finished second; and Justin Housinger (106), Charles Cottrell (144) and Broderick Reutebuch (165), all of whom finished fourth.
Culver’s three regional qualifiers included Kael Buschman (144) and Theron Carrington (175), both of whom finished second; and Isaiah Milam (215), who was fourth and who is a first-time regional qualifier.
Caston had no regional qualifiers. Both Gabe Burkett-Rader (150) and Myles Sherrick (175) both finished fifth and were the highest-placing Comet wrestlers.
The top four finishers in each weight class advanced to the regional, which Penn will host at 9 a.m. this Saturday.
