Boys basketball
The Rochester JV boys basketball team went 2-0 and won the four-team tournament at the Wawasee Holiday Invitational Dec. 29.
They beat Wawasee 43-40 in the first round and Fort Wayne Dwenger 58-56 in the championship game.
Jonas Kiser and Jack Reffett had 11 points each in the Wawasee game, and Davis Renie hit two 3-pointers and scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter as Rochester erased a 34-23 deficit after three quarters.
Grant Clark added seven points, and Hunter Honkomp had four.
As a team, Rochester made six 3-pointers and all nine of their free throws.
Kiser also had 19 points in the win over Fort Wayne Dwenger. Reffett had three treys and 13 points. Renie added nine; Grant Clark had seven, including five free throws in the second half; and Brady Coleman and Hunter Honkomp had five each.
Rochester outscored the Saints 19-4 from the foul line.
The JV Zebras then hung on in the fourth quarter to top Whitko 41-37 on Thursday. Reffett scored nine of his team-high 11 points, and Clark and Kiser added eight points each. Honkomp had seven, Coleman had four, and Renie had three.
