Rochester JV held to 3 hits in loss to Pioneer

Merrick, Solano combine for 12 Ks

Pioneer 8, Rochester 4 (JV, 6 innings, Friday): Hunter Stover had two singles and two RBIs for the Pioneer JV in a six-inning win over visiting Rochester Friday.

Jaxson Merrick pitched the first three innings, and Juan Solano pitched the final three, and they combined on a three-hitter with five walks and 12 strikeouts. Only one of the runs they allowed was earned.

Eli Nicoll had a hit and an RBI, and Archie Blickenstaff and Ryan Looker each had an RBI.

Brady Coleman pitched the first three innings for Rochester and took a no-decision after allowing two hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out six. Callen Ferverda took the loss, allowing three hits and six runs (three earned) in two innings. He walked one and fanned five.

Conner Dunfee and James Gardner each had a hit and an RBI for Rochester. Trenton Meadows had a hit and scored a run.

The teams combined for eight errors.

Pioneer trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the third but took the lead for good with a five-run fifth.
