Caston’s Logan, Winamac’s Werner make third team

Softball
Rochester’s Bria Rensberger, Winamac’s Maggie Keller and Pioneer’s Lois Layer have been named to the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana Class 1A/2A second team All-State.
Rensberger went 15-2 with a 1.34 ERA in the circle. Her only losses were to Class 3A, No. 5 Roncalli at the Kokomo tournament and to Western Boone in the Class 2A regional.
In 120 ⅓ innings, she allowed 73 hits and 23 earned runs while walking 28 and striking out 203. She also hit .254 with a homer and 11 RBIs.
Keller hit .583 with six homers and 38 RBIs. She had a 1.570 OPS while striking out only three times.
Layer hit .583 with 17 extra-base hits, 41 RBIs and a 1.523 OPS. In the circle, she went 12-5 with a 2.69 ERA in 19 appearances covering 99 innings. She allowed 96 hits and 38 earned runs while walking only 13 and striking out 110. She held opponents to a .261 on-base average.
Rensberger, Keller and Layer were all juniors.
In addition, Caston’s Kylee Logan and Winamac’s Makayla Werner were named third team All-State.
Logan, a senior catcher and a Manchester University signee, hit .559 with three homers and 25 RBIs and a 1.509 OPS. She struck out only four times.
Werner, a senior center fielder, hit .425 with five homers and 25 RBIs and an 1.117 OPS. She struck out only four times.
