Boys soccer

Rochester’s Spencer Backus was named first-team All-Three Rivers Conference, and fellow seniors Carlos Plascencia and Grant Bailey were named honorable mention in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media.

Backus led Rochester with 22 goals. The rest of the team combined scored just 20.

Plascencia was second on the team in goals with five and also the team leader with nine assists.

Bailey, a defender, also scored three goals.

Rochester went 6-12-1 overall and 1-4 in the TRC. They finished in fifth place out of six teams. Northwestern went 5-0 to win the conference title.

Rochester beat Tippecanoe Valley and Eastern (Greentown) in sectional play before losing to Maconaquah in the final.

Northfield, Southwood, Whitko and Lewis Cass do not have teams.
