Rochester shoots 356 at Rock Hollow Invite

Boys golf

The Rochester boys golf team shot a 356 and finished eighth out of 21 teams at the Rock Hollow Invitational at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru on May 20.

Meanwhile, Tippecanoe Valley shot a 393 and took 13th.

Center Grove won the tournament with a 318. Tipton also shot a 318 but lost to Center Grove on fifth player’s score. Brebeuf Jesuit was third with a 319.

Rochester was second and Valley fourth among the nine Three Rivers Conference teams in the field. Northfield took sixth overall with a 341.

Every TRC team participated except for Manchester.

No individual scores were provided to RTC.

Riffle’s 35 helps Zebras take 2nd in 4-way match at Dykeman Park

Twin Lakes 145, Rochester 157, Logansport 166, Winamac 206 (May 23): The Rochester boys golf team shot a season-low 157 for nine holes but settled for second place in a four-way match at Dykeman Park Golf Course in Logansport May 23.

Noah Riffle led Rochester with a 35. Drew Strasser and J.R. McLochlin each carded a 40, and freshman Ashton Musselman had a 42.

Wesley Meadows and Enrique Navarro both shot 47, Davis Renie had a 49, and Robert Bozzo had a 52.

All four teams will return to Dykeman Park for the sectional on June 2. Twin Lakes is the two-time defending sectional champion.

Lewis Cass 177, Rochester 178 (May 25): The Rochester boys golf team lost to Lewis Cass in their regular season finale over the front nine at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek on May 25.

Noah Riffle was the medalist with a 39, and fellow junior J.R. McLochlin was right behind him with a 40. Drew Strasser added a 46, Brock Bowers had a 53, Kaeven Brown had a 61, and Parker Brown had a 68.

Riffle had a birdie on No. 7, a par-4. McLochlin birdied the par-4 sixth hole and the par-5 ninth hole.

Strasser, Kaeven Brown and Bowers are the team’s three seniors.

Ashton Musselman and Enrique Navarro each shot a 48 to lead the Zebra JV in a 197-203 win. Navarro birdied No. 5 and teammate Davis Renie birdied No. 2.

Rochester will next play in the Logansport sectional at Dykeman Park Golf Course on June 2.
