Rochester sports briefs: Girls golf loses by 1 stroke to Warsaw

Warsaw 185, Rochester 186 (Thursday): Ava Thomas shot a 42, but the Lady Zs lost to host Warsaw at Rozella Ford Golf Club Thursday.
Olivia Bailey added a 44, Payton Moore had a 45, Delaney Barkman had a 55, and Savanah Eccles had a 63.
Thomas parred both par 3s, Nos. 2 and 5. She also parred Nos. 8 and 9, both par 4s.
Warsaw’s Abbey Peterson was the medalist with a 2-over-par 37.
Rochester had edged Warsaw by one stroke (363-364) at the Twin Lakes Invitational at Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello on Saturday in an 18-hole tournament.

Rochester at Maconaquah, canceled: The Rochester-Maconaquah boys tennis match scheduled for Aug. 24 has been canceled.
It is believed that Maconaquah does not have a team this year.
Rochester adds game with Trinity Greenlawn: The Rochester girls soccer team will travel to South Bend to play Trinity Greenlawn at noon Aug. 27.
Rochester and Trinity Greenlawn are also rivals in Class 1A, Sectional 35. This is believed to be their first meeting ever.
Rochester’s game scheduled for that day against Oregon-Davis has been canceled due to Oregon-Davis’ lack of numbers.
