Girls golf wins at Culver behind medalist Thomas; Pickens, Keranko help boys soccer beat LaVille

Volleyball
Rochester’s volleyball matches against Lewis Cass and Peru this week have been postponed. The Lewis Cass match scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at Lewis Cass. The Peru match will be played at 10 a.m. Sept. 18 at RHS.
Rochester’s next scheduled match is now at Southwood on Sept. 9.
The Lady Z JV volleyball team will also not participate at the Warsaw JV Invitational on Saturday.
No reason was given for the postponements.
Girls golf
Rochester 209, Culver 266 (Thursday): Ava Thomas claimed medalist honors with a 48 as the Lady Zs beat host Culver at Maxinkuckee Country Club Thursday.
Payton Moore added a 53, Kat Rensberger and Delaney Barkman each had a 54, and Savanah Eccles had a 62 for Rochester.
A.J. Hinds led the Lady Cavs with a 63. EmmaLee Hillman had a 67, Kaitlyn Stacy and Sylvia Rodriquez each had a 68, and Addison Crippen had a 69.
Reagan Becker had a 56 for the Rochester JV.

Boys tennis
Rochester 5, LaVille 0 (Tuesday): Drew Strasser won in straight sets at No. 3 singles for the visiting Zebras Tuesday.
Rochester (3-1) won the other four matches by default. LaVille has one player on their roster.
Rochester will host sectional rival North Judson this Tuesday and travel to Peru for their conference opener Thursday.

Boys soccer
Rochester 5, LaVille 1 (Tuesday): Zach Pickens scored twice and dished out an assist for the visiting Zebras in a win over LaVille Tuesday. R.J. Keranko added a goal and two assists, and Eric Eikenberry also had a goal.
Rochester also scored on an own goal.
Rochester had a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Parker Wallace had six saves in goal for the Zebras, who improved to 2-1.
