Rochester sweeps singles, beats Judson at sectional

Rochester 4, North Judson 1 (Wednesday): Olivia Bailey, Ellie Straeter and Emma Murphy all won in straight sets at singles, and J.J. Graber and Abriella St. Martin won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles for the Lady Zs in a win over North Judson in a sectional quarterfinal at Culver Academy Wednesday.

Ella Ramsey and Savannah Wolters lost in straight sets at No. 2 doubles.

Bailey squeezed out a 7-5, 7-5 win, but Straeter and Murphy lost only five games combined in their wins.

Rochester improved to 7-10.

They will return to Culver Academy to play Knox in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. today. Knox received a bye into the semifinals.

In Wednesday’s other quarterfinal, Culver Academy blanked Triton 5-0 to earn a semifinal meeting with Plymouth today.

Singles

Olivia Bailey (RHS) won 7-5, 7-5.

Ellie Straeter (RHS) won 6-2, 6-2.

Emma Murphy (RHS) won 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles

J.J. Graber-Abriella St. Martin (RHS) won 6-4, 6-3.

Ella Ramsey-Savannah Wolters (RHS) lost 6-2, 6-2.
