Rochester will host Class 2A, Sectional 37 from May 22-27, according to the Feb. 17 IHSAA Executive Committee meeting minutes released Tuesday.
This marks the first time since 2013 that Fansler Field has hosted a softball sectional.
Pioneer, Lewis Cass, North Judson, Wabash and Winamac are the other five teams in the sectional. Pioneer won the Class 2A state title as recently as 2021 but is proceeding without Hailey Cripe, now playing at the University of Kansas.
Champions of odd-numbered sectionals will host a one-game regional on May 30. That means that Rochester would not have to play a postseason game away from home until the semistate at Warsaw on June 3.
Among other RTC area teams, Tippecanoe Valley will travel to Kankakee Valley for Class 3A, Sectional 20. The Lady Vikings had been in Class 2A the previous two seasons.
Caston will return to North Miami for Class 1A, Sectional 52. North Miami defeated Caston in last year’s sectional final and is the reigning regional champion.
Argos and Culver will travel to Westville for Class 1A, Sectional 50. Marquette Catholic, Oregon-Davis and Triton round out the six-team field.
