Rochester wrestling gets 8 falls in rout of Triton

Rochester 59, Triton 15 (Dec. 13): The Rochester wrestling team recorded eight falls and a technical fall in beating host Triton on Dec. 13.
Layne Horn (126), Kale Shotts (144), Braylon Smith (150), Brant Beck (165), Declan Gard (175), Colin Weiand (190), Alex Deming (215) and Brady Beck (HWT) all won by fall.
D.J. Basham (138) won by a 17-2 technical fall. Reed Perry (113) won by forfeit.
Horn, Brant Beck, Deming and Brady Beck maintained their undefeated season records.
Rochester is ranked No. 2 in this week’s IndianaMat.com Class 1A team poll. Adams Central is No. 1.
The Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association released the 12-team field for the Class 1A team state duals Sunday. In addition to Rochester, the field consists of Adams Central, Bluffton, Cascade, Cowan, North Miami, Prairie Heights, Southmont, Tell City, West Central, South Adams and Faith Christian. Rochester will host the tournament on Jan. 6. Rochester finished third last year and second in 2022.
