South Central (Union Mills) will join the Hoosier North Athletic Conference for football only beginning in the 2024-25 school year, according to a conference press release Wednesday.
South Central will be the eighth football-playing school in the conference, joining Caston, Culver, North Judson, North Miami, Pioneer, Triton and Winamac.
North Miami was announced as a new member in all sports on June 1.
Argos and Oregon-Davis will also join the Hoosier North in 2024-25, but those schools do not have football.
Knox and LaVille left the Hoosier North on March 31 and announced on April 5 that they were forming a new, yet-to-be-named conference with Tippecanoe Valley, Bremen, Jimtown and John Glenn.
Sportswriter Jim Peters first reported that South Central would move to the Hoosier North for football in a tweet on May 3, citing South Central athletic director John Haggard. South Central had been in the Greater South Shore Conference for football prior to the move.
South Central will remain in the Porter County Conference for all other sports.
South Central went 3-8 last fall. Their season ended with a 61-0 loss to Culver in the sectional semifinals.
South Central’s lone sectional title occurred in 2010. They have had one winning season since 2017.
