Girls basketball
Caston 49, North Miami 29 (Wednesday): Isabel Scales scored a game-high 16 points

and added a team-high five assists to lead the Class 1A, No. 3 Caston girls basketball team past North Miami in a Miami County Invitational semifinal at Maconaquah Wednesday.
Kinzie Mollenkopf scored a season-high nine points, and Addison Zimpleman also had nine. Bailey Harness had seven points, a team-high eight rebounds and four assists.
Five different Caston players hit a 3-pointer. Caston made a higher percentage of its 3-point attempts (50 percent) than its free throw attempts (43 percent).
Caston led 20-13 at halftime and extended the lead to 37-20 after three quarters.
Caston (14-0) will play Peru in the tournament final at 6 p.m. today. Peru topped Maconaquah 34-31 in the other semifinal. Caston is the two-time defending tournament champion and defeated Peru 59-51 on Nov. 8.
Kaiden Hanley led North Miami with 11 points. North Miami came in averaging 51 points per game.
The teams’ regular season meeting is scheduled for Jan. 19 at North Miami.
