Scales, Zimpleman combine for 46, lead Caston past Peru

Girls basketball

Caston 60, Peru 27 (Tuesday): Isabel Scales scored a game-high 24 points, and Addison Zimpleman poured in 22 to lead the Class 1A, No. 4 Lady Comets past Peru Tuesday.

Caston improved to 3-0, and they have scored 60 or more points in all three games. Historical girls basketball records are spotty, but this is believed to be the first time in at least 25 years that Caston has scored 60 or more points in three straight games.

Caston scored 60 or more points three times last season in going 20-3.

Caston led 32-11 at halftime and extended the lead to 51-19 after three quarters.

Caston has beaten Peru six straight times.

The teams could meet again at the Miami County Invitational on Dec. 27-28.
