Shaffer named IFCA Region IV coach of the week

Rochester football coach Ron Shaffer was named the IFCA Region IV Colts/NFL Coach of the Week Monday.
Rochester defeated Southwood 41-0 Friday and is 6-2 on the season and 6-1 in the Three Rivers Conference. The Zebras host Maconaquah at 7 p.m. this Friday in their regular season finale.
Shaffer has won this award twice in his three years as Zebra coach.
Rankings update
Tippecanoe Valley (8-0) moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 in this week’s Associated Press Class 3A poll following their 37-14 win over John Glenn Saturday. Other ranked teams in Sectional 28 include No. 1 Indianapolis Chatard, No. 3 Guerin Catholic, No. 5 Hamilton Heights and No. 9 Peru.
Rochester (6-2) moved up from No. 17 to No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Class 2A poll following their 41-0 win over Southwood Friday. The other ranked team in Sectional 34 is No. 11 Lafayette Central Catholic.
