Lady Cavs make 19 of 24 free throws, win 3 straight for first time in Lowry era

Culver 47, West Central 39 (Thursday): Grace Sieber and Rose Peterson scored 12 points each to lead the Culver girls basketball team to a win over visiting West Central and their first three-game winning streak in coach Shane Lowry’s three seasons as coach.
Brynn Berndt added nine points, and Kennedy Jackson had seven.
Amiyah Williams had two points and a team-high seven rebounds. Culver (10-11) had a 29-21 rebounding advantage despite both Williams and Jackson fouling out.
Berndt and Peterson had four steals each.
Sieber made all eight of her free throw attempts, and Berndt was 5 for 6 from the line. As a team, Culver was 19 for 24.
Culver had two three-game winning streaks in 2019-20 under coach Tammy Shedrow. They have not won four in a row since the 2018-19 season. Culver hosts LaVille in their Hoosier North finale Saturday before a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal game at home against Argos on Wednesday.
Annika Smith had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Trojans, who fell to 5-16.
Culver led 24-18 at halftime.
Culver is 7-1 in their last eight meetings with West Central.
