Lauren Bowmar doubled, homered and had five RBIs, and Holly Noveroske threw a no-hitter to lead the South Central (Union Mills) softball team to a 17-0 win over Argos in five innings in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal at South Central Monday.
South Central improved to 22-5 and will face the winner of Tuesday’s Culver-Triton game in the semifinals. The semifinal game involving South Central will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Madisyn Barcus reached on a hit-by-pitch and was Argos’ only baserunner against Noveroske.
Allison Zahm took the loss in the circle, allowing 13 hits and 17 runs in five innings. She walked two and struck out three.
Argos also committed five errors that led to seven unearned runs for South Central.
South Central was ranked No. 1 in the final Class 1A coaches poll of the season that was released Tuesday.
Argos, who had only one senior, finishes the season 8-15. The Lady Dragons won the first ever Hoosier Plains Conference title last week.
