Winamac 48, LaVille 34 (Friday): Sadie Popejoy scored 14 of her game-high 15 points in the second half, and Marissa Iverson added 13, including 11 in the second half, as the Winamac girls basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat host LaVille in a Class 2A, Sectional 34 semifinal Friday.
Kandace Kroft added a pair of 3-pointers and nine points for Winamac, who extended their winning streak to seven and improved to 19-6. Winamac will face No. 7 Bremen, who routed Knox 63-20 in Friday’s other semifinal.
Freshman Lexie McQueen led the Lady Lancers (9-13) with 10 points. Faith Mejer added nine.
Winamac shut out LaVille in the first quarter and led 14-11 at halftime. LaVille hung within 27-25 going into the fourth quarter.
Winamac made 13 of 21 free throws while LaVille was 5 for 14.
